Why buy a slatted base from Sit & Sleep?

A good slatted base remains a wise choice. A good slatted base is adjustable to your body type. Zones aren't just essential; they should be tailored to you for perfect support. If the slatted base can be properly adjusted, it's advantageous that the settings can always be evaluated later if necessary. Perhaps you're evolving to sleep more on your side, gaining or losing weight, or your back problems are changing.

  • Adjustable zones

For optimal back support, each slat should be individually adjustable to various firmness levels, allowing you to precisely determine the right support for each zone. The sliding mechanism offers three positions to give the slats more or less flexion, and the support slats vary in fiberglass ratio depending on the zone. This helps maintain a straight spine when lying on your side and optimally supports the natural S-curve when lying on your back.
  • Flexible slats

The pivot is the support for the slats and ideally provides not only rotation but also suspension for added flexibility at the edges. With a classic slatted base, the slats and pivots are attached to a rectangular frame, which limits the ability to conform to your body contours, while floating slats prevent this problem. This allows the full width of the base to be utilized without compromising comfort.
  • Sustainable quality

The durability of a slatted bed base is ensured by the use of strong, long-lasting materials like beechwood and high-quality fiberglass. Environmentally friendly processes and the use of FSC-certified wood ensure the slatted bed base remains both robust and ecologically sound. This way, you can enjoy long-lasting comfort without compromising quality or the environment. Our slatted bed bases easily last 20 years.

Our advisors are trained to adjust the slatted base to your individual body type. This ensures the perfect spinal alignment. We manually check this by examining the position of the vertebrae.

What is the best mattress on a slatted base?

A good slatted base follows the contours of the body and is divided into different support zones. The mattress should allow for interaction between the base and the body; a mattress that is too thick or too hard prevents this and makes investing in a good slatted base pointless. The firmness and thickness of the mattress should be adapted to the sleeper's body characteristics. A well-functioning slatted base is ideal in combination with a foam mattress, although latex is preferred for its durability and elasticity. For a double bed, two separate slatted bases are always used to ensure proper support for both sleepers. With a latex mattress, we can also offer different zones or firmness levels, and some slatted bases can be adjusted per zone for extra comfort, especially for people with a pronounced waist or broad shoulders.

  • Slatted base against reflux

If you want to lie with your head elevated due to reflux, it's important that the entire base is inclined. A common mistake is to only elevate the backrest. This results in a completely slumped position, with all the attendant consequences. The base should be able to be inclined in various positions.

  • Slatted base with feet higher

If you experience swollen limbs, for example, in people who work in a standing position or have edema, you'll want to sleep with your legs elevated at night. Here too, it's important that the entire floor is tilted. This maintains the neutral position of the spine while still raising your feet relative to your head.
  • Electrically adjustable base

When you want to sit up in bed to read a book or watch television, it's important to sit correctly. The base should have a knee bend to relieve pressure on your lower back. You can choose between electric or pneumatic adjustment of the base. In the former case, you have the choice between 1, 2, 3, or even 4 motors (head, back, legs with knee bend, and feet).
