Why buy a sofa from Sit & Sleep?
Finding the right sofa isn't easy. Some models are beautiful to look at, but they're awful: the seat is too deep, the backrest too low, and there's no proper support for your lower back.
Fortunately, we have a wide selection of salons that combine perfect support with a beautiful, sleek look. Together, we'll determine what suits you best and explore the endless finishing options.
What to look for when purchasing a new sofa

Correct sizing
Make sure the dimensions are proportional to your body type. This can sometimes be difficult if you and your partner have different heights. In that case, we recommend taking the seat height into account for the smallest person and the backrest height for the tallest person.
Be sure to check the following dimensions before making a (hasty) purchase;
-
Seat depth
We recommend a recliner with a seat depth that is shallow enough to ensure excellent back contact.
The starting point is that the edge of the seat should reach the back of your knees. At the same time, you should be able to sit comfortably with your back against the backrest without any gap at the lumbar region. -
Seat height
Choose a seat height that allows you to comfortably reach the floor with your feet. When choosing a sofa, be sure to choose the shoes or slippers you wear at home.
Our recliners are available in different heights, some even with a spindle or gas spring so you can adjust the height. -
Backrest
The neck support should actually support the neck, not the back of the head. If you plan to use the same seat with several people, the neck support should be height-adjustable, or you can use a separate neck support cushion with a counterweight hanging over the backrest. If you also want to maintain neck support while reclining while watching television, you'll naturally want a neck support that can be tilted.

Adjustable neck support
The neck support should ideally be height-adjustable and tiltable. For shorter people, the neck support shouldn't rest on the back of their head, and taller people should be able to feel the curve of the neck support just below the base of their skull. The tilt function is helpful when you want to watch television or read in a relaxed position with good support.

Relaxation function in your living room
You can equip a lounge with a wonderful relaxation function. This is often electrically operated, but it can also be manual. A fold-out footstool is possible, but a separate footstool can also be a good option.
A good recliner function ensures that the spine remains in a neutral position. Your knees are positioned higher than your pelvis, preventing you from sliding forward when you recline the backrest. You should never lose support in your lower back, and the neck support should also be adjustable to your recline position. Did you know this is also possible with a longseat?

Ergonomic corner sofa
If you choose a corner sofa, you can opt for an ergonomic backrest adjustment. You can pull the back towards you to improve lower back support. In a classic corner sofa, you sit at a 90° angle without support.
We definitely recommend combining this with an adjustable neck rest for optimal support.

Heart balance relaxation function
If your feet are higher than your pelvis, you'll experience a pleasant relief in your legs. Gravity allows venous blood to flow more easily back to the heart, relieving tired or swollen legs. Imagine if your legs were extremely high—in that case, you might even feel pressure in your head, which is obviously not the intention. The ideal heart balance position is with your feet approximately level with your heart, which ensures balanced blood flow.
This tilt function offers an additional benefit: because the entire seat reclines, your back remains well-supported without having to move. With a lounge chair where only the backrest reclines, you have to shift slightly to regain optimal back contact.

Our advisors are trained to recommend the right salon for your specific body type. This way, you'll get the most out of your purchase and avoid back or neck problems.

Salon with riser aid
Are you experiencing knee or hip problems, or have you noticed a loss of strength over the years? Then a riser aid could be the ideal solution. No one wants to be dependent on others to easily get up from the lounge chair. Thanks to a built-in lift function, your body weight is safely raised to almost standing height. This means you need minimal muscle strength to get up.
Many of our ergonomic lounges can be equipped with this feature. This doesn't mean your lounge has to look like a "care model" – you can perfectly have a stylish, modern chair discreetly equipped with this convenient support.
A good salon, but also a beautiful salon
A good ergonomic sofa certainly doesn't mean it can't be a beautiful one! Our collection features the best sofas with ergonomic reclining features, good sizes, and a stylish design. You can, of course, finish them to your personal taste in leather or fabric.
