A good office chair is adapted to YOUR body characteristics
We've noticed that properly adjusting such an advanced, ergonomic office chair isn't easy. It's possible you're not as technically inclined. But it's usually because you tend to adjust the chair the way you're used to. Often, you naturally set the office chair too low, the lumbar support is too high, and the angle between the seat and backrest is incorrect. That long-standing, old sitting pattern, complete with back pain, is different from what it might be like with a good ergonomic office chair.
That's why our ergonomists take the time to adjust this chair with you. This way, you'll experience the difference a properly adjusted chair can make for you. That's not possible online. Think of this potential purchase as a bit like choosing a custom-made running shoe or an orthopedic shoe. You really try it on and have the expert adjust it until it fits perfectly, don't you? After all, every foot and every gait is unique.
A good office chair encourages you to move because dynamic sitting is healthier
All our chairs can be adjusted so they encourage you to move freely and change your posture. This way, we distribute the load on your spine: you alternately load your intervertebral discs and promote their rehydration. You stimulate blood flow to your tissues. You also exercise your muscles and prevent tension and shortening.
We've noticed that many users lock their chairs in place instead of allowing them to move freely. We believe this is largely due to incorrect adjustment of the movement resistance, or simply not knowing how to adjust it at all.
We completely understand that you don't want to feel unsafe: It feels like you're falling backward when you lean against the backrest. Then definitely increase the resistance, but don't disable the movement! Even very small movements are much better than none at all. That's why we provide detailed instructions when you first use the chair. And if you don't feel like moving, you can disable it temporarily.
Go for an open hip angle
A good ergonomic office chair should also be able to tilt forward to achieve a neutral pelvic and spinal alignment. It's precisely this tilt that makes sitting without back pain possible. Correctly adjusting the chair is crucial here so you don't feel like your nose is pressed against your desk.
The European standard does not address this pelvic tilt, but it does in the Dutch Practical Guideline NPR (NPR 1813). Again, this is not a requirement to always sit this way, but we strongly recommend it. However, the chair should at least allow for this.
